During new student move in this year, students and families were encouraged to take selfies and post their move in photos online using the hashtag #ucscmovein. Each college also encouraged students to include college-specific hashtags such as #cowellcollege or #stevensoncollege.
The goal of the initiative was to create an online presence welcoming students and their families to campus, while also creating opportunities for online engagement. In addition to working with Teresa Decker, UCSC Social Media and Marketing Manager, other university staff and departments were encouraged to participate by posting welcome messages or other content to social media using the common hashtag.
Throughout the move in week, over 240 items and over 100 photos were posted to social media with the #ucscmovein hashtag. Sammy the Slug even got in on the action!
