Welcome Week 2014 was a time of great community building and reflection, but most of all, it was a culmination of weeks of hard work by our student leaders and months of planning by our professional staff. After 3 weeks of intense training, our student leader team was ready to facilitate a series of Welcome Week events designed to welcome students into the Oakes family.
The pictures here are just a few examples of our "challenge by choice" events where we pushed students to challenge themselves to get close to their peers, to join together in celebration, and finally, to express themselves and share their talents with the Oakes community in an appreciative and inclusive environment. Oakes Welcome Week was truly about planting the seeds to grow a community of students who are comfortable with themselves, their talents, and their place in the world and amongst their peers.
