Students enjoying the bounce house at the Healthy High Festival
The 5k race and other healthy activities made for a fun event!

Every year on April 20th UCSC gears up for a large gathering of people on campus and this year was no different. If you happened to be on the east side of campus that day you would have seen a large group of students enjoying a new activity: the Healthy High Festival. This year a group of staff and students decided to provide an alternative event for the campus community on April 20th. The focus was on being active and having a good time, outside, being healthy. Some of the activities included were a bounce house for all ages, pick up soccer games, frisbee and disk golf, volley ball, a 5k race and a 1/2-mile fun run for any kids that attended.

The weather was amazing and the atmosphere was fun and energetic. You could see people playing games all over the east field and really enjoying the day. Some attendees told us "This is a great idea!", "I love the bounce house – it was the best part of my day today", "We should do something like this more often." Fun was had by all that attended as well as those who helped plan the event. Everyone even got a great tumbler for attending. Thanks to the many departments that sponsored this event: Cowell College, Stevenson College, CHES AVC, Dean of Students Office, OPERS, SHOP, Smoke & Tobacco Free Initiative.
